Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

We are so excited to have TK here at Kellogg!  Our year will focus on kindergarten readiness and social emotional development. In TK we are growing together as responsible, helpful classmates that work and play together with fairness and respect. Our goal is to build a strong foundation for a lifetime of curiosity, kindness, and excitement about the world and learning.

I have been a part of the Kellogg community for over 25 years!  I was first involved as a parent, and then I was fortunate enough to become a member of this amazing staff. My family and I have made so many wonderful friends and memories here!  Kellogg is truly a special place.

I grew up in Northern California and the San Diego area. I graduated from UCSB with a B.A. in Sociology and then attended UCLA where I obtained my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I have taught mostly Kindergarten and TK during my time here at Kellogg. My husband and two children were also Bulldogs!!! I enjoy time with family, reading, gardening, music and movies, and traveling.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach our youngest students.  There is such genuine joy and curiosity about learning each day!  Being able to create an environment where we learn “We can do hard things”, “It’s OK to make a mistake, we can try again”, and “We can work together to learn as a team” is very important to me.  I strive to have a classroom that feels safe for all students to be who they are and to feel seen and heard each day. Everyday is a new day here in TK. We are ready to discover the world!

I have made so many wonderful memories at Kellogg School, first as a student and now as a teacher.  I have been teaching in the Goleta Union School District since 2011 and am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to teach TK and Kindergarten at Isla Vista School and Kellogg School.  What  an incredible community we have here in Goleta!

I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Human Development and a B.A. in Psychology.  Then I returned to Santa Barbara to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters Degree in Education from UCSB.

I love teaching young children and inspiring a love for learning that remains even when learning and life become challenging. I believe in learning through play and in the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect.  I look forward to welcoming our youngest bulldogs and watching them grow over the years at Kellogg School.
