Message from the Principal
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We excited to begin this new year with each of you. Rooted in partnership, a sense of family, and our shared responsibility to care for one another, we move forward with curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to working together. Our students thrive and achieve, both today and in preparation for the opportunities of tomorrow.
School begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The MPR (multipurpose room) opens at 7:30 for breakfast and the playground opens at 7:45. Our bell rings to signal the start of yet another glorious day of learning. The warning well rings at 8:13. Students must be with their teacher at 8:15 to be on time.
Please join me for "coffee and conchas with Ms Corral". This is our monthly gathering. I'll give you the inside scoop of any new happenings at IV school and you can communicate your wonderings as well. The first is scheduled 7:30 am on Friday, August 21 in the library. Additionally, if you are a family member of a TK or kinder student, please keep an eye out. Our PTA's social media has posted an upcoming opportunity to meet other families of our Seahawk hatchlings.
We are proud to share that Isla Vista School is recognized as a National Model Professional Learning Community (PLC). This well-earned honor reflects our core values. We can and do have a school community dedicated to learning together, supporting one another, and ensuring the success of every student. It is a powerful example of how we live our commitment.
At Isla Vista School, students learn from dedicated and talented educators who provide a rigorous, engaging, and high quality curriculum. We celebrate the diversity of our community and honor the unique strengths and experiences each student and family brings. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels emotionally, physically, and intellectually safe. We empower students to own their learning journey.
Our school community, including parents, playground supervisors, teachers, support staff, office staff, custodians, administration, and our PTA, shares the responsibility of supporting every child. As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we value care, responsibility, and respect. We recognize how our actions impact one another, celebrate our interconnectedness, and strengthen our partnerships so that every member of our Seahawk family can thrive.
I am honored to be part of this incredible Isla Vista School family and look forward to the year ahead. It is sure to be filled with learning, growth, and the joy that comes commitment. Together, we (parents, guardians, and staff ) will nurture our students’ confidence and inspire their potential.
Sincerely,
Hortencia Corral
