Mr. Latta, Mr. Light, and Ms. Lim are eager to share with you the variety of topics you will learn about this year. It is a very busy year filled with fun and excitement. We look forward to seeing you!
I am in my 17th year of teaching, and my 8th here at Mountain View. I have taught mostly 6th grade during my career, but have also taught 2nd and 5th. I love the 5th grade curriculum and have a special interest in that grade, so I am very excited for the chance to be there this year! I am also really excited to work with Dr. Lauer, and I feel like this is going to be an amazing year at Mountain View! I have many hobbies and interests but my main 3 are sports, reading, and music. (my fave) I am married to a wonderful woman who is an amazing teacher, and I am the proud father of 3 beautiful children. I love teaching because I enjoy the challenge of meeting all my students' needs and helping make them the best people they can be.
I have been teaching in Goleta for twenty-one years, eleven of those at Mountain View, primarily fourth grade, but have been in fifth grade the past three years. I like my job and students. Others have offered greater insights into their lives through this medium, but I seek a two-way dialogue with those whose children I guide. Please feel free to drop me a line and chew the fat with me. We can share our views on both important and trivial matters.
I am thrilled to be joining the Mountain View community this school year! Originally from Los Angeles, I moved to Santa Barbara in 2011 to attend UC Santa Barbara. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2015 and Masters of Education in 2016. I then began my teaching career at Mount Carmel School in Montecito and taught second and fourth grades during my five years there. In my free time, I enjoy walking on the beach, riding my bike, trying new restaurants, traveling, hiking, gardening, embroidering, sailing, and so much more. But my true passion is teaching! I love connecting with my students and sharing my love of learning with them. I love watching them grow and discover new things about themselves and the world around them. I truly feel honored to be a part of your child's journey this school year, and I can't wait to meet you all soon!
