This is my 12th year teaching. I taught 4th grade for five years, DLI Kindergartern for three years, and 2nd grade. This is my third year teaching 3rd grade! I graduated from Fresno State with a BS in Child Development and I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from Antioch University Santa Barbara. On my free time, I enjoy going on walks with my baby Gio and spending time with my friends and family.

Este es mi decimotercero año de enseñanza. He enseñado 4º grado durante 5 años, DLI Kindergartern durante 3 años y segundo. ¡Este es mi tercer año de enseñanza de tercer grado! Me gradué de Fresno State con una licenciatura en Desarrollo Infantil y obtuve mi credencial de enseñanza de materias múltiples y Maestría en Educación de la Universidad de Antioquía de Santa Bárbara. En mi tiempo libre disfruto de caminatas con mi bebé Gio y simplemente convivir con mis amigos y mi familia.

This is my 5th year working as a teacher and I am so excited to be a part of the Dual Language program at El Camino. I grew up in Lindsay, California where I had the opportunity to participate in a Dual Language program myself, just like the students at El Camino. Later, I moved to study Spanish and Communication at UCSB. After graduating, I got my teaching credential in Tulare County and completed the Bilingual Authorization program through UCLA. I'm so excited to be a part of the El Camino community this year and help kids learn another language. 

 

Este es mi quinto año trabajando como maestra y estoy muy emocionada de ser parte del programa de doble inmersión en El Camino. Crecí en Lindsay, California donde tuve la oportunidad de participar en una programa de doble inmersión, como los estudiantes en El Camino. Después me mudé para estudiar Español y comunicación en UCSB. Más tarde recibí mi credencial de enseñanza en el condado de Tulare y mi autorización bilingüe de UCLA. Estoy tan emocionada de ser parte de la comunidad de El Camino este año y ayudar a los estudiantes a aprender otro idioma. 

 

Maury Pendergrast

I am so excited to be working in the DLI program at El Camino! This will be my fourteenth year teaching and my sixth year teaching in a dual language program. I have just moved to Santa Barbara from Denver, Colorado. I have my M. Ed. in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of Denver and my Bachelor's in Spanish from the University of Colorado. I am passionate about bilingual education as I believe it opens your mind to new cultures and experiences and makes you a more open-minded, creative individual. In my free time, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Estoy muy emocionada de trabajar en el programa DLI de El Camino.  Este será mi décimocuarto año de enseñanza y el sexto en un programa de DLI.  Acabo de mudarme a Santa Bárbara de Denver, Colorado.  Tengo una maestría en educación cultural y lingüísticamente diversa de la Universidad de Denver y una licenciatura en español de la Universidad de Colorado.  Me apasiona la educación bilingüe ya que creo que te abre la mente a nuevas culturas y experiencias y te convierte en una persona más abierta y creativa.  En mi tiempo libre, me gusta leer, practicar yoga y pasar tiempo con mi familia y amigos.
